In 1986, LabVIEW, a well-known graphics development system based on the Mac environment, was launched. This software allows engineers and scientists to vividly use graphics such as “wires” for programming, rather than inputting text based on code as before. Through people”s more intuitive use and reduced framework structure, productivity has been greatly improved, which has made LabVIEW popular once it was released. The following year, a new version of LabVIEW based on DOS environment, LabWindows, was released. With the launch of this now flagship product, NI has put forward the slogan of “software is an instrument”, opening up a new concept of virtual instruments.
At that time, National Instruments had 100 employees. In order to improve their work enthusiasm, every achievement of employees would be praised.
