Question: How to use MATLAB script nodes to pass strings into MathWorks, Inc. MATLAB ® Software?
Answer:
MATLAB script nodes only allow the use of six data types, all of which are numerical. To pass in the data type of a string, you first need to convert the string to a byte array. Using the “double” command in MATLAB software to convert a string into a one-dimensional double precision array, and then passing this data type into MATLAB software is not a problem. In MATLAB software, use the “char” command to convert a double precision array into a string. If you want to use byte arrays again in LabVIEW, you need to use Byte Array To String.vi to convert the byte array back to a string.
