More intelligent uptime to minimize unexpected downtime
With the launch of the new Orbit 60, Bentley Nevada is consolidating decades of top-notch data security and accessibility experience. Nevertheless, we have designed and manufactured a module that includes data isolation circuits for isolating status monitoring and protecting the network, allowing data to be sent directly to the business network without posing a risk of intrusion to the protection and control network. This module is called the Condition Monitoring Module (CMM), and its main function is to transmit data to the condition monitoring software for visualization. This module can listen to all data from the Orbit 60 data bus, including process data, alarms and events, calculated values, or dynamic sensor data. CMM can prevent any attempted changes to the backplane of the protection monitoring system.
Orbit 60 has passed IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level (SL) 2 certification, and its architecture can achieve Security Level (SL) 4, ensuring that the retrieved data can be accessed to the business network through the CM module without worry. Product manager Steve Sturm stated that the circuit of CMM is in “listen only mode” for process networks, which means it can only receive data and cannot affect the functionality of the protection system. Accessing data through the CM module can minimize the risk of network attacks on other parts of the system, while providing insightful and actionable data for the most needed experts.

Three coordinate module
The Orbit 60 series is the first mechanically isolated monitoring system. Through built-in data isolation from the protection system and factory network in the status monitoring module, Orbit 60 can seamlessly connect to your status monitoring software for active monitoring and diagnosis.
Condition Monitoring Module (CMM):
Directly connected business network – simplifying network architecture (removing complex firewalls and database replication)
Bidirectional communication from System 1 for dynamic changes/requests
All real-time data can be used in System 1
No bidirectional electronic devices:
Once a network attack occurs, CMM cannot affect the operation of the protection system
All data is automatically broadcast to CMM, without CMM requesting information from System request
