Woodward collaborates with engine OEMs to understand and solve their complex engine control system dynamics issues. The design may result in engine control (line replaceable unit) or may be incorporated into another LRU for local control.

In order to reduce the impact of component obsolescence and leverage cost advantages, commercial ready-made components should be used as much as possible in the design of electronic products.
The O/S software is developed based on DO-178B, certified to level A, and subdivided into OS (operating system) and AS (application software).
Woodward’s NPI (New Product Introduction) process is built on a solid foundation of DFSS (Six Sigma Design) tools, including DFR (Reliability Design), DFP (Producibility Design), and DTC (Design from Requirements Definition to Certification to Cost) scorecards.
