Does LabVIEW support dual network cards?
Answer:
One way to distinguish different network cards through TCP is to use TCP Listen.vi and TCP Create Listener. vi. Both VIs have an input parameter called network address. Use the IP input function of a string to enter the IP address of the network card you want to use. Once the connection is established, you can output this reference using the connection ID or listening ID. This feature is commonly used in multi network card configuration. For more information about this feature, please refer to LabVIEW Help and other TCP functions.
When using TCP Open Connection, the operating system will determine which network card to use based on the IP address of the PC and which connection you are attempting to open.
When using FTPVI, there are actually two connections on the FTP server. The first connection is a command connection, where the command is sent; The second is data connection, which only involves the transmission of files. For command connections, the FTP server is the listener and the client is the open connector. There are two situations for data connections: active or passive. In an active connection, the data connection is opened by the FTP server, and the client is the listener (as opposed to a command connection), while in a passive connection, the FTP server is the listener, and the client opens the connection. The active setting is the default setting for most FTP clients, which means that we have a listener on our client side. The simplest way for LabVIEW to use a specific network card is to force the connection to be set to passive, by giving a false constant to the Active input of FTP Get File.vi and using the string to IP conversion function to obtain the address of the network card, which is then input to the host input of FTP Get File.vi.
Prior to LabVIEW 6.1
In LabVIEW 7, it is not possible to specify that LabVIEW listens to a specific network card. LabVIEW will open a WinSocket connection, and Windows will decide which network card to use. The most likely scenario is that the network card set as the primary network card will be selected.
