1. Resistive touch screen
This touch screen uses pressure sensing for control. The main part of the resistive touch screen is a resistive film screen that is very suitable for the display surface. This is a multi-layer composite film. It uses a layer of glass or hard plastic plate as the base layer, and the surface is coated with a layer of transparent oxide metal (transparent (conductive resistance) conductive layer, which is covered with an outer surface hardened, smooth and scratch-resistant plastic layer. Its inner surface is also coated with a coating, and there are many small (less than 1/1000 inch) between them. The transparent isolation points separate the two conductive layers and insulate them. When a finger touches the screen, the two conductive layers come into contact at the touch point, the resistance changes, and signals are generated in the X and Y directions, which are then sent to the touch screen controller . The controller detects this contact and calculates the (X, Y) position, and then operates according to the simulated mouse method. This is the most basic principle of resistive technology touch screen. The key to resistive touch screens lies in material technology. Commonly used transparent conductive coating materials are:
A. ITO, indium oxide, is a weak conductor. Its characteristic is that when the thickness drops below 1800 angstroms (angstroms = 10-10 meters), it will suddenly become transparent, with a light transmittance of 80%. If it is thinner, the light transmittance will be reversed. decreases, and then rises to 80% when the thickness reaches 300 angstroms. ITO is the main material used in all resistive technology touch screens and capacitive technology touch screens. In fact, the working surface of resistive and capacitive technology touch screens is the ITO coating.
B. Nickel-gold coating. The outer conductive layer of the five-wire resistive touch screen uses a nickel-gold coating material with good ductility. Due to frequent touching, the purpose of using a nickel-gold material with good ductility is to extend the service life of the outer conductive layer. , but the process cost is relatively high. Although the nickel-gold conductive layer has good ductility, it can only be used as a transparent conductor and is not suitable as a working surface for a resistive touch screen. Because it has high conductivity and the metal is not easy to achieve a very uniform thickness, it is not suitable for use as a voltage distribution layer and can only be used as a detector. layer.
1.1 Four-wire resistive screen
The two transparent metal layers of the four-wire resistance analog technology work with a constant voltage of 5V added to each layer: one vertically and one horizontally. A total of four cables are required . Features: High resolution, high-speed transmission response. Surface hardness treatment to reduce abrasions, scratches and chemical protection. Available in glossy and matte finishes. Once calibrated, it has high stability and will never drift.
1.2 Five-wire resistive screen
The base layer of the five-wire resistance technology touch screen adds voltage fields in both directions to the conductive working surface of the glass through a precision resistor network. We can simply understand that the voltage fields in both directions are applied to the same working surface in a time-sharing manner. The outer nickel-gold conductive layer is only used as a pure conductor. There is a method of detecting the X-axis and Y-axis voltage values of the inner ITO contact point time-sharing after touching to measure the position of the touch point. The five-wire resistive touch screen requires four leads in the inner layer of ITO, and only one conductor in the outer layer. The touch screen has a total of 5 leads. Features: High resolution, high-speed transmission response. High surface hardness reduces abrasions, scratches and resists chemical treatments. It can still be used after 30 million contacts with the same point. Conductive glass is the base material. Once calibrated, it has high stability and will never drift. The five-wire resistive touch screen has the disadvantages of high price and high environmental requirements.
1.3 Limitations of resistive screens
Whether it is a four-wire resistive touch screen or a five-wire resistive touch screen, they are a working environment that is completely isolated from the outside world. They are not afraid of dust and water vapor. They can be touched by any object and can be used to write and draw. They are more suitable for the field of industrial control. and limited-person use within the office. A common disadvantage of resistive touch screens is that because the outer layer of the composite film is made of plastic material, uninformed people may scratch the entire touch screen if they touch it too hard or use a sharp object, causing it to be scrapped. However, within limits, scratches will only damage the outer conductive layer. Scratches on the outer conductive layer do not matter for five-wire resistive touch screens, but are fatal for four-wire resistive touch screens.
